Famed Sports Talk Duo Splits

Chris "Mad Dog" Russo is a free agent after WFAN New York released the veteran sports talk host from his contract Thursday. Russo had been the co-host of "Mike and the The Mad Dog" alongside Mike Francesa since September 5, 1989. The duo changed the landscape of sports talk radio with their unique, contrasting styles. The YES Network began simulcasting the show on television in 2002. The show consistently drew high ratings throughout its run and flirted with a market share of 7.0 last year.

WFAN released a statement Thursday stating they had signed Francesa to a long term contract. He will now host a show in the same time slot as "Mike and the Mad Dog". Industry sources say Russo is likely to land with Sirius XM satellite radio.

Someone pranked their show when I was driving home from the office, so it made me think of this priceless moment from Mike and the Mad Dog show.
