Costas Talks Syracuse Blazers Hockey

NBC announcer Bob Costas reminisced during the first intermission about his days as the radio announcer for the Syracuse Blazers of the old North American Hockey League. The NAHL was the motivation for the Federal League in the movie Slap Shot.

Speaking of Syracuse hockey, it is interesting to note that the very first Calder Cup trophy was won by the I-AHL's Syracuse Stars in 1937. The Syracuse Crunch have been unable to reclaim the now AHL-owned cup in their 14 years of existence.
