Coming Soon to WNYOsports.com

The much-delayed behind-the-scenes look at the American Idol auditions in Philadelphia (20,000 in attendance)

State of the Orange: Why things could be worse for Syracuse football (Yes, I know this is an Oswego State-affiliated site, but we don't have a football team and are therefore forced to follow Syracuse)

Athlete of the Week: WNYOsports.com will name their own Oswego State AOTW (Brendan McLaughlin is the early frontrunner)

Increased Web Traffic (hopefully): WNYO.org will be linking to WNYOsports.com (we might not be in the Alexa top 500,000, but at least we didn't lose to Appalachian State)

Michigan Out of Top 25

The Michigan Wolverines took the largest tumple in AP Top 25 poll history today, falling from 5th to honorable mention in the lastest release. Michigan lost to two-time defending division 1-AA champion Appalachian State Saturday in what some are calling the greatest upset in college football history. Michigan has the eighth-highest vote total out of the honorable mentions.

Turned out to be a pretty nice little Saturday

What a day in the world of sports!

- A moving ceremony before the first Virginia Tech home football game since the killing of 32 people on campus in April.

- Defending champion, Maria Sharapova upset at the U.S. Open.

- D-IAA National Champion Appalachian State defeats the Michigan Wolverines at the Big House!

- Finally, Red Sox rookie Clay Buchholz tosses a no-hitter in his 2nd big league start!

What a day, and it gets better! Only one week til NFL season!

Hey Blue...This is Who Beat You

There is No Joy in Ann Arbor

The greatest upset in college football history? Perhaps. Division I-AA Appalachian State blocked #5 Michigan's game-winning FG attempt at the gun to beat the Wolverines 34-32. Michigan had set up the FG opportunity with a 46-yard bomb from Chad Henne to Mario Manningham, but it was all for naught. Lloyd Carr, it's been real.

UPSET ALERT!

Appalachian State is at the Michigan 5 with less than a minute remaining!

This Might Actually Happen

Two-time defending Division I-AA champ Appalachian State has the Michigan Wolverines on the ropes at the Big House. The Mountaineers trail 31-26 midway thru the 4th, but have the ball 1st & 10 at the 50. Chad Henne threw an interception on the previous drive.
